NE::MQG::BOM::May

In March, while in the end {and loneliest} weeks of my maternity leave I stumbled upon the newly created NE Minneapolis Modern Quilt Guild. I stuffed my insecurities into my pre-pregnancy jeans, put my baby in the linen ring sling I'd made only days before and headed south to meet a bunch of strangers who were far more talented than I.

I had a great time.

I had to miss the April meeting, both because previously mentioned baby was sick and because I knew the roads were going to be terrible, what with all of our freak April snowstorms in this ridiculous state.

Thankfully the NE MQG has a blog so I wasn't going to walk into our next meeting blind. Apparently they chose to do a Block of the Month for our May meeting and it was my nemesis. Half Square Triangles. And not just one, but 36 of them. In a 12 inch by 12 inch block.

I {re}learned a few things while I constructed this:

1 :: I still hate HST's. They are a sworn enemy.

2 :: My sewing machine needs a tune up. Badly.

3 :: My sewing scissors need to be sharpened. Badly.

4 :: This is adorable, as long as some one else makes it for me.

5 :: I will not be making a second block with prints instead of solids.

6 :: I may someday conquer HST's, but it is not today, tomorrow, or the day after that.
